Students at USF’s Sarasota-Manatee campus can still register for next month’s Northwestern Mutual Leadership Series and earn $250, but they need to do so by Sunday, Jan. 26.

The free series, led by the wealth management company’s executives, includes dinner, and upon completion students will receive leadership certificates and a $250 scholarship. The series is divided into four workshops that run on Wednesdays – Feb. 5, Feb. 12, Feb. 19 and Feb. 26 – from 6 to 8 p.m.

Topics include:

  • Developing Your Strength as a Leader
  • Understanding How the Mind Works
  • Harnessing Emotional Intelligence
  • Capstone Project Presentations

“This transformative series is open to juniors and seniors of all majors,” USFSM Internship and Career Readiness Coordinator Ben Hyland said.

Northwestern Mutual has partnered with universities for years through its award-winning internship program. The Leadership Series draws from the company’s internal leadership development initiative. This is the program’s fourth year at USFSM.

The application process is easy. Applicants must send their resumes to heins@sar.usf.edu along with a short note explaining their intent to apply to the Northwestern Mutual Leadership Series.

The deadline for resumes is Sunday, Jan. 26.

Resumes will be given to Northwestern Mutual human resources representatives, who will arrange interviews. Ten students will be selected for the workshops.

“By the end of these four sessions, students walk away with a deeper understanding of themselves, their habits and how to build an exciting life,” Hyland said.
