SARASOTA, Fla. (Sept. 05, 2017)USF Sarasota-Manatee is canceling its upcoming “What now, Cuba?” seminar in response to Hurricane Irma. The seminar was scheduled to run Monday, Sept. 11, from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the campus’ Selby Auditorium.

Gov. Rick Scott has issued a state of emergency affecting all Florida counties as all computer models show Hurricane Irma, now a Category 5 storm, will impact the state. Even if the storm’s route changes later this week, Florida will remain in its direct path, making travel difficult at the least.

Tickets will be fully refunded automatically.

The half-day session was organized to explore the implications of America’s revised Cuba policies with talks by former U.S. diplomat Vicki Huddleston, Don Rissmiller, chief economist at New York-based Strategas Research Partners, and other financial and geopolitical experts.
