USFSM graduation exercises set for May 8

SARASOTA, Fla. (May 1, 2017) – The University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee will hold its Spring 2017 graduation exercise on Monday, May 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Bradenton Area Convention Center, 1 Haben Blvd., Palmetto.

USFSM’s four colleges – Business, Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, Hospitality & Tourism Leadership and Science & Mathematics – will confer 350 degrees, including 66 master’s degrees. Of those graduating, about 225 are expected to attend the commencement.

Interim Regional Chancellor Dr. Terry Osborn will represent USF Sarasota-Manatee. USF System President Dr. Judy Genshaft will preside. Dr. Bonnie Jones, assistant vice president for institutional research and effectiveness, will serve as ceremony reader.

Faculty Senate President Dr. Fawn Ngo will bear the university’s mace. Jay Riley, program director of student alumni engagement, will serve as emcee. Sarah Bradtmueller, a candidate for graduation from USFSM’s School of Education, will perform the national anthem and USF alma mater.

Special awards will be presented to: Katerina Pluhacek (Outstanding Graduate Award), Kathy Vu (Golden Bull Service & Outstanding Leadership Award), Noah Miller (King O’Neal Scholar Award), Sara Kitlowski (Paul Searls Webecke Award) and Dr. Edie Banner (Outstanding Professor Award).
