USFSM to host ‘Brexit’ panel discussion

SARASOTA, Fla. (Oct. 18, 2016) Britain’s decision to exit the European Union, the so-called “Brexit,” has fueled uncertainty about its potential impacts on Southwest Florida’s tourism and real estate industries.

On Tuesday, Oct. 25, a panel of local tourism and financial experts will meet at USF Sarasota-Manatee to discuss the Brexit’s potential effects on Southwest Florida.

The discussion, at USFSM’s Selby Auditorium, 8350 N. Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, is free and will begin at 5:30 p.m. It will be moderated by Dr. Cihan Cobanoglu, a noted tourism expert and director of USFSM’s M3 Center for Hospitality Technology and Innovation.

The panel will be comprised of Brian J. Mariash, a senior financial advisor at Mariash Lowther Wealth Management in Sarasota; Jo Ann M. Koontz, a local attorney and certified public accountant; Elliott Falcione, executive director of the Bradenton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau; and Kelly Defebo, director of sales at Visit Sarasota County.
