SARASOTA, Fla. (March 08, 2018) – Dr. Michael Snipes already is known to many ABC 7 viewers, but the USF Sarasota-Manatee economics professor is about to become a regular contributor to the station’s programming.
Starting today at around 7:45 p.m., Dr. Snipes will present a weekly three-minute segment about the local economy. Look for a topical feel as Dr. Snipes talks about how economic matters in Washington, D.C., or on Wall Street impact Sarasota and Manatee residents.
Dr. Snipes, who joined USFSM in fall 2014, has contributed to ABC 7 (WWSB) news segments and round-table discussions on current events for a couple of years. However, this new role talking economics every Thursday night on TV takes him into uncharted territory. Still, he isn’t worried.
“I’ve been doing a lot of these segments and usually they’re pretty straight-forward,” Dr. Snipes said. “There’s always something going on in Washington or with the economy and if there’s nothing going on then I’ll be able to talk about people in the community or how economic forces work. But there’s always something to talk about.”
After tonight’s segment, he’ll be out of town next week but return the following Thursday, March 22.
