SARASOTA, Fla. (January 21, 2015) – Dr. Jean Kabongo, associate professor of strategic management and entrepreneurship at USF Sarasota-Manatee, is conducting a free event open to the public designed for current and aspiring entrepreneurs on January 27 at 6 p.m. at the Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, 1845 34th St. This workshop will discuss entrepreneurship, creativity and why innovation shapes the marketplace as well as developing and nurturing the innovative mindset.
“The workshop contributes to building capacity in the community – I hope it will awaken the innovative entrepreneurial spirit in the participants,” said Kabongo. “I also hope that, down the road, many will consider starting innovative business ventures as a viable economic option. Ultimately, these businesses will create new jobs in the community.”
Kabongo believes his position as a scholar at USFSM brings a level of expectation for service to the University and the community. Therefore, he views this service as a means for faculty members to return benefits to the community. “I wanted to get involved in this initiative to build stronger relationships and to apply my expertise for the good of the community,” said Kabongo.
