Incoming students are required to obtain a laptop computer for class use. Students should contact the academic departments in which they intend to register for courses to ascertain minimum laptop requirements. Certain courses make require specific hardware and software needs.
A NetID is your user ID at the university. It acts as an electronic passport, giving you access to a variety of online services offered at through the university system. To create an activate your NetID, visit the NetID Services webpage and select “Activate your USF NetID”.
All admitted USF students are given Gmail accounts, in connection with their USF NetID, to host their university email. This serves as your default email address for many online university services. Your student Gmail account gives you 6GB of online storage and access to Google Apps.
All student email addresses are assigned using the following format: [NetID]@mail.usf.edu.

MyUSF acts as a single point of access for a variety of important university web services, including your student email and online class materials (i.e. Blackboard and Canvas). You’ll also find important announcements here, and you can access NetID services or OASIS (for tracking your class enrollment) from this page.
